The Jewel of Carneros

Set high into the hilltop with panoramic views of Napa Valley, San Francisco Bay and its own estate vineyards, it’s easy to see why Artesa is called the Jewel of Carneros.

Perhaps no other winery captures the multi-faceted beauty of this windswept, world-famous appellation as dramatically as the Artesa estate, where the fusion of architecture, artistry and winegrowing reaches soaring heights.

Owned by the Raventós family of Spain, whose winemaking history dates to the mid-sixteenth century, the winery takes its name from the Catalan word for “handcrafted.” Today, Artesa focuses on producing small, ultra-premium lots of the varietals for which the Carneros and the Napa Valley are best known – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Artesa Carneros Chardonnay

Lemon blossoms, green apple, ripe pineapple and honeydew melon are front and center in this Chardonnay. This crisp fruitiness is combined with nuances of vanilla-topped creme brulee, butter, and toasted oak, making this wine both easy to enjoy and seductively complex. Silkily supple with lingering flavors, yet a tingle of crisp acid on the finish; a great accompaniment for food and friends.

Artesa Carneros Classic Pinot Noir

A dark and exuberant expression of great Carneros Pinot Noir. Refined and elegant aromas of cherry, red currant, chocolate and faint whiffs of leaf tobacco. This wine is beautifully subtle and multi-layered with oak spices of clove, allspice and smoke. Excellent structure gives this wine a mid-palate weight and silky sensation from start to finish. A perfectly balanced Pinot with just a gentle tingle of acid, which keeps the fruit lively throughout the whole taste. This wine is wonderful straight out of the bottle, but has the concentration and complexity to improve with several years of aging.

Artesa Napa Sonoma Classic Merlot

Brimming with raspberry, cherry and boysenberry. This satin-soft wine has layers of clove, anise, vanilla and milk chocolate serving as delicious counterpoints to the pervasive berry fruit. Supple mature tannins and a fruit-enlivening acid balance guarantee this wine will please for years to come.

Artesa Napa Sonoma Classic Cabernet Sauvignon

Bright wild blackberry and cherry are complemented by abundant spice—black pepper, clove, allspice, vanilla, nutmeg and a hint of cedar smoke. Finely knit together with a silky mid-palate, this wine has sufficient tannin backbone for aging. This wine will be delicious for the next five to ten years.

Artesa Napa Reserve Merlot

Brimming with bright cherry and raspberry. Layers of cinnamon, clove, cigar box, vanilla and chocolate serve as delicious counterpoints to the pervasive berry fruit. A serious wine with excellent color and firm yet silky tannins. In the mouth a wonderfully smooth wine that has a warm-comforting-silky feeling from start to lingering finish. A splendid acid and soft tannin balance ensure that this wine will both go well with food and evolve into a greater wine over the next decade—this is a great Merlot.

Artesa Napa Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Wonderfully exuberant raspberry, cassis and blackberry fruit is complemented with cedar, clove, nutmeg, dark chocolate and vanilla aromas and flavors. An elegant wine with smooth supple tannins, perfect acid balance and a long lingering finish. This wine is a treat in its youth, but the joyfulness of the fruit combined with its ample tannin structure means this wine will reach its zenith 10+ years after release.

Artesa Reserve Estate Chardonnay

This wine is full of pear, green apple and peach blossom with a hint of pineapple and mango. Balanced, seamless, multi-layered and elegant, this wine has a triple-creme brie texture that melts into a lingering toasted vanilla bean and butterscotch finish. Excellent balance enables the fruit to dance on the tongue through the entire taste and provides the structure to age gracefully.

Artesa Reserve Estate Pinot Noir

A refined expression of great Carneros Pinot Noir. This wine is beautifully balanced and subtle. Intertwined aromas of raspberry, cherry and red currant are forefront from start to finish. Seamlessly multi-layered with fruit and oak spices of clove, nutmeg and smoke that melt into a lingering berry and vanilla oak finish. The gentle tingle of acid that keeps the berry fruits livel, will complement food and enable this wine to age gracefully.
